Throwing in the towel

As much as I hate to do this, it's gotta be done. I'm an avid reader but not a fast one and, lately with my new job and life being slightly more hectic, I've barely had time to read.

There isn't any way I'm going to read and finish four Classic books by the end of tomorrow and, as much as I'm really enjoying it, I'm not going to be able to finish Interview with the Vampire by tomorrow.

This means I'm throwing in the towel for my Classics Challenge and my R.I.P. Challenge.

Obviously my progress isn't as impressive to those of you who devour books like chocolate (oooh, yes please) but, meh, I did what I could considering I can't really buy any new books until my TBR disappears. :)

Oh well. I tried and gave it my best. That's what matters. :)

Your best is all that matters - at least you got SOME books read, right? Challenges aren't meant to make us feel guilty. :)

reading is about having fun. If you can't finish something in the "allotted" time, that's OK. Do it on your own time. Reading is fun! That's the point!

At least you are reading, and that is half the battle. Sometimes, I feel that there is an unspoken race to see who can read the most books in a certain time frame here on in book blogger world. We should all take time and savor each book, as you do. It looks like you read some great books, so I would totally not worry about it!

I'm learning to take reading challenges as a suggestion. If I get to it, fine. If I don't, no prob. That's cool that you got to read Northanger Abbey! I really liked that book.

That's why I haven't signed up for challenges. I don't like being rushed. I want to read what I want, when I want. At least you read some really good books so Congrats.

Hey Ceri--don't feel bad for throwing in the towel. Honestly I barely finished my own classics challenge this time and still haven't written all my reviews. :P

Challenges are a lot of fun as is reading, but I know exactly how you feel with having other obligations. I work full-time and am lucky to finish one book a week and am always amazed at those who finish them in a day! Oh well.

Hope you're liking Interview with the Vampire! I'm curious but a little too scared to read it. :)

At least you are reading! I read slowly myself, and do try to finish challenges, but if I don't, I don't worry about it. I read for fun.

I've had to throw in the towel on some challenges over the years. It used to really bother me but now not so much.

You know, I am slow too. That's why I don't do challenges. Some of my posts aren't even on books bc I'm slow slow. At least you know your limits.
